Tompkins County will be turning a little green on May 25th.
The New York State Green party will be holding its' nominating convention in Ithaca that weekend.
State party chairman, Craig Seeman, states the party's executive commitee made the decision last night.
Seeman says Tompkins County has always been a strong base of support for the Green party in New York.
The state Green party executive commitee also considered Albany and New York City because of their political clout, and media availibility, as well as Ulster county, which also srtongly supports the party.
Seeman says the decision to hold the nominating convention in Ithaca will show the media and the state that the Green party is a grassroots organization that wants to be in touch with it's supporters. About 100 state commitee members are expected in town that weekend.
The delegates will nominate candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller and attorney general.
That's because (repeat after me) Ithaca is the City of Evil.
the decision to hold the nominating convention in Ithaca will show the media and the state that the Green party is a grassroots organization that wants to be in touch with it's supporters.
Actually, any half unbiased and half competent reporter (assuming that's not an oxymoron) ought to be able to note pretty quicky that it demonstrates that the Green party is the party of malcontents and Ivory tower college professors sucking at the tenured teat of the education system.
2)Every political entity in the state has been moving its meetings to NYC as a show of support and to help the suffering local convention biz.
3) They must be really hurting for cash to hold the meeting in a low-rent district like Ithaca.
4) The odds of getting any media buzz are, well, zero.
Let 'em steal votes from the dems.
Now that's an oxymoron.
Do you ever feel like you are living in the Stephen King novel, The Stand? All the icky people are coming to YOUR town!! Yikes!
Ithaca is the City of Evil.
